I've been promoted to Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford. I'm 33. It is bittersweet news My beloved Dad died unexpectedly last week. He did everything to help me be the best I could possibly be. I just wish I could tell him in person.

I keep smiling about @PikaGoldin’s Nobel It reminded me when 2 men (not econ) asked why I was in the faculty lounge. I said: I'm teaching economics She must mean Home Economics they said, laughing I was speechless & hated that. Now I would say "check the Nobel prize list £$%s”

We show 3 main things in the data: - Abusive men suppress women’s economic outcomes from the start of relationships - It’s a repeated pattern that even happens when abusers cohabit with women who don’t report abuse themselves - Suppression is partly strategically motivated
