Indian students from Indian undergrad universities applying for internships to Indian professors: you need not use terms like freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years. We understand 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, and 4th year 😉

My sentiments right now, after our paper "Pacer: Comprehensive Network Side-Channel Mitigation in the Cloud" got accepted @USENIXSecurity '22! 🙂🙂🙂
First author, finally getting that paper accepted after 5 years:

My student, after our weekly reading group: [...] the paper made me believe that there are no separate research directions as "security" and "system" research. Security considerations should be taken into account at the system design level. 😇

Happy to share that our paper NetShaper with @Amir__Sabzi, @rutvora, Swati, @margo_seltzer and @mathias_lecuyer will appear at @USENIXSecurity '24. We present a novel differentially private traffic shaping solution to mitigate network side channel leaks in Internet apps.

Also received a similar recognition from the dean @ubcscience for my grad course on systems security last term (tinyurl.com/aastha-cpsc538m). It's satisfying to see courses from @UBC_Systopia @UBC_CS adding value to students' careers.
Received a letter from the dean today. Seems I've received some of the highest student experience of instruction scores last term in the faculty of science @UBC for my course CPSC436A Operating Systems Design and Implementation. (Co-taught with @tfjmp) @UBC_CS @UBC_Systopia

Indian cricket team is actually making me fall in love with them and the game. Supporting each other is the way to success: a lesson that could be imbibed in many facets of life, including academia. #Cricket #BCCI #INDvAUS #AcademicTwitter

On my way to Koblenz for #SOSP2023. Looking forward to fun interactions with systems researchers. Watch out for the SRC and the posters. Also, chat with me if you are interested in faculty positions @UBC_CS or graduate positions in @UBC_Systopia.

Everything about this comic (including the rain) hits too close to home.
