- The problem here is their phrasing. The distinct ethnic groups that settled the US weren't "stripped" of anything. African slaves were stripped of their culture. Indigenous people were stripped of their culture. But all the non-English "minority" whites essentially colluded

- No one told white authors they need to be writing characters color. What we said was, "We need more characters of color," and because white people center themselves always, they heard, "You need to write characters of color."
