this recruiter said, “what salary are you looking for?” i asked, “what is the cap.” i had something in mind, but not what she threw out there. she said, “$190k.” i was silent. she said, “plus the health benefits, 20 PTO days to start, 20% bonus, 4% 401k match, and stock options.”

for the first time in my career i tried to request lower pay despite all the numbers she threw out there and she said, “let’s do $190k. that is what you are worth in the market. i don’t like to sell people short of their worth!”

i thought y’all knew the IT/security teams monitor your actions online. we can see how long you’ve been active, what work you’re doing, how long you’ve been in programs, obviously your IP address and y’all still think your 1-4 hour work days are going unnoticed. oh okay.
