Just published a blog post I've been working on for a little while: "Async Rust can be a pleasure to work with (without Send + Sync + 'static)" TL;DR: async @rustlang is actually pleasant to use with structured concurrency and thread-per-core runtimes

After 2328 days, or just under 6.5 years, today is my last day at @Ripple. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such an exciting ride; I'll be cheering the team on from the outside. Keep on building the #InternetOfValue!

I'll be taking a step back from active development on Interledger.rs for a while but I'll stay involved with the @Interledger community and the boards of @Coil and the Interledger Foundation.

We're hopeful that ILPv4 will be the last version for a long while. We're bringing the ilp-connector up to production quality and starting to use it for micropayments over cryptocurrencies. The plugins for XRP, ETH, and ERC20 tokens should be good to use w/in 1-2 weeks

Interoperability doesn't work if there's a built-in token. If you create a great protocol that makes you super rich, I have a strong incentive to fork it and create a competing protocol that makes me super rich, undermining interoperability. Only pure/thin protocols like IP work

There are things where a token makes sense. For the Interledger use-case it doesnt and I think not having one will make adoption easier.

Billions of transactions per second is exactly what we're building for with @Interledger. It's heavily inspired by the Internet Protocol and doesn't have any of the scalability or latency limitations of blockchains or consensus-based systems.

In case you missed it last week, here's the Interledger.rs alpha release announcement (reposted on Medium). Connect to the testnet with a simple Docker image and send payments to/from $XRP and $ETH! (More coming soon) @interledger @rustlang medium.com/interledger-bl…

I've been explaining @Interledger to a lot of people recently that say "wow, this project is awesome! Why haven't I heard about this before?" How should we spread the word more / how do people find out about projects in this space? Blog posts, podcasts, specific events?

Just open-sourced a @rustlang macro that makes it easy to track metrics for any function. The fun parts: - writes Prometheus queries for you - inserts links to graphs of your production metrics into each function's doc comments Feedback welcome!
