- Ok, so here's some of that context: between 2016-2021, an average of 93.3% of all racially identified Memphis violent crime offenders were black, 6.4% were white, and 0.14% were Asian. x.com/ZachG932/statu…
- 1/n No, the NYT (and likely other outlets) didn't always do this (i.e., '[Name of person], who is white...') to the same extent that they have over the past decade or so.
- 43% of Democrats vs. 70% of Republicans think that people "should be allowed to express unpopular opinions in public, even those that are deeply offensive". Strikingly, a similar proportion of Democrats support speech restrictions (39%).
- 1/n Two interesting findings thus far from my analysis of Pew's March 2020 COVID-19 survey. First, white (and especially 'very') liberals are far more likely than all other ideological-racial subgroups to report being diagnosed with a mental health condition.
