Jane Austen died in Winchester on the 18th July 1817, and was buried inside Winchester Cathedral six days later on the 24th July. Her funeral was a very quiet family affair attended, as customary, by male members only - three of her brothers, and one of her nephews. #JaneAusten

Our West Window was rebuilt by the people of Winchester after the Civil War. It might be broken but it's still beautiful! #TuesdayThoughts

A remarkable survival, these are the finest 12th-century wall paintings in the country, with clearly visible images of Christ being taken down from the Cross and placed in his tomb. @EnglishHeritage @King_Alf @HistoricEngland @HistoryNeedsYou @WinchesterHist @engcathedrals
