- 20 years ago, we made Sauron's armour. Following John Howe's design, Stu Johnson hand beat the plate steel to make every component of this highly intricate armour. He then used sulfuric acid to add the pattern work and an aged patina over the surface of the armour. #LotR20
- After an extensive quest that did involve a trip to Mount Doom, we’ve found some behind-the-scenes photos of #Sauron. In this scene, the Dark Lord is covered in dozens of individual pieces of plate steel we made with an intaglio decoration. #wetaworkshop #lordoftherings #tolkien
