I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Labour will never privatise the NHS.
We’ll work with the private sector to cut NHS waiting lists while we build the staff, the equipment and the technology the NHS needs to treat patients on time.
We owe those who serve the UK the kit to do the job and the loyalty to stand by them when it's done. We are failing on both.
I’ve spent my whole time in government making that case. Number 10 will not listen, so I am resigning as Minister for the Armed Forces.

🚨 NEW: A Treasury source attacks John Healey for resigning as Defence Secretary
"Let's be clear on what John is asking for: cuts to schools and hospitals"
h/t @e_casalicchio
"The plan is there. John Healey has worked on it. He's a great Defence Secretary. The question is, how do you pay for it?"
@wesstreeting told @lewis_goodall last week that there was "indecision" at the top over the defence investment plan.
Today, Healey resigned.
I’m standing for re-election to Labour's NEC.
My family was lifted out of poverty by a Labour Government, and I've dedicated my life to our movement ever since.
Over the last four years, I've championed members, campaigned for our candidates and worked to strengthen our party
Care workers come to this country to do vitally important work and many find themselves under threat of deportation. Visa's should never be used as coercion to enforce a system of exploitation, especially when care workers contribute so much to our country.
How did Labour lose Sunderland?
This Labour Government has done some great things, but has also made some mistakes. We owe it to the country to say sorry and learn from them.
Farage has the audacity to vote consistently against the rights of workers and then claim he’s open to trade unions.
The Labour movement needs to take the threat from this snake oil salesman seriously.
We don’t need polls. Look at election results last month…
Union leaders have been quick to brand Nigel Farage an "enemy of trade unions" and claimed he would launch "worse attacks on workers' rights than Thatcher" labourlist.org/2026/06/union-…
For thousands of people every year, a glioblastoma is a death sentence. Last night, people from across the Labour movement were out supporting the late great Margaret McDonagh's final campaign. And with enough support, it could be her greatest 👇

We need to listen to Councillors and communities when they tell us we get things wrong as a Government. My time in Newcastle showed me what happens when we don't.
