Hearing Zim wasn't profitable is weird to me, cuz how come the merch has flooded the shelves of Hot Topic for 20+ years, while contemporaries like Teenage Robot had to wait those same 20 years to even get a single plush?

In 2002, 'INVADER ZIM' was cancelled due to its low ratings and high production cost which was about $1.2M. 'SPONGEBOB' on the other hand was produced with about $350,000-$500,000 at the time. Should 'INVADER ZIM' had stuck around even though it wasn't profitable for Nick?

Doug's has been pleasantly surprising me ever since his The Wall video. He takes criticism on the chin, he powers through shingles and chronic fatigue just to get videos out, and I find his takes on movies/tv to be a bit more thoughtful than they ever used to be. Dude's a champ.

I know it's a dead horse, but I will never not feel secondhand embarrassment for Matt and his crew of writers having called this animation "shit". "Not what we are looking for" would have sufficed, but "shit" really speaks volumes about how little they knew about animation.

Apparently, some of the crew wanted to do an ending where it turned out Eddy's bro wasn't even real and the kids get arrested for all the destruction, concluding with a "womp womp!" type deal, but Danny INSISTED on something meaningful to cap off the series. Kudos to him.

Do kids shows have episodes like these anymore? I guess I'm not watching any currently-running kid shows these days, but the ones that exist all seem so... sanitized. Cartoons used to slap you in the face sometimes, but I always craved these types of episodes.

Always kinda sad reading about how this show started as an attempt to make something really cool that anyone could enjoy, but execs kept sanding down every edge it had until it became the braindead slapstick Slimer show for drooling toddlers.
