Work has started to install the new wooden-clad crash barriers on Kirkstone Pass 🏞️ The new safety barriers need no additional maintenance to what is usually required and make an outstanding difference visually, complementing the stunning landscape. ➡️ bit.ly/3uWNBoy

Lots of #snow on high ground in East #Cumbria today. This was Tan Hill earlier this afternoon. If you spot one of our #gritters please give them space to work and remember newly gritted routes don't mean you can now travel safely at maximum speeds. #StaySafe

Guess what, we are out gritting, oh yes we are, all because of the sun is melting some of our roads. Don't worry, we're on it, our gritters will be treating these roads with dust to help cool the surface and protect the surface.

Here's our second named gritter. We give you - Usain Salt! Keep an eye out for him when out salting roads in the Carlisle area. We'll have some more for you early in the New Year.

Teams battled through up to 12ft high snow drifts to clear a route into Alston today. Gritters, diggers & snow blowers helped us get there in the end! #SNOWMAGGEDDON
