- We don’t care if you score 20 or get x amount of shots! Can you execute, defend, pass the ball to the shot pocket, talk, do the little things, be a good teammate, play with energy, be unselfish, set screens, dribble with pressure, make a play with defense and play hard.
- We don’t care about your aau/hs stats, or who you train with. We want to see can you defend your position, can you make the right reads, can you handle the ball with pressure, can you screen, how high is your IQ, can you rotate! These things get you recruited
- This weekend recruiting saw bigs not get in a stance, point guards not be a pass first but just want to shoot, saw negative energy because they didn’t score. Saw kids refuse to pass 2teammates! Recruits don’t understand we do this for a living and can spot these things right away
- This speech never gets old! A freshmen who didn’t play, turned into an ALL American and National Champion looked in the mirror. It’s all about an honest perspective!Playing time: Blame your Coaches or Look in the Mirror? [From Joel Berry III's senior speech youtu.be/zi2H0CBkeIY]
00:00 - After watching this weekend recruiting. Saw kids never make a one more pass, get an assistant, rotate on defense, drive & kick! College basketball is different! It’s hard &it’s about knowing and understanding concepts! Can U make the ball move. Can U rotate. Can U be unselfish!
- There’s more to the game then scoring! I see parents/ kids getting upset when they don’t score or play enough! We are looking for more! Can you defend the ball, rotate on defense, talk, sprint the floor, set a screen, rebound with 2 hands/in traffic, can you pass to the shooting
- Just talked to a peer college coach about players being coachable! This is becoming a super lost skill! Parents telling the kids different things, or creating a false reality. We want kids who want to be coached, who want to be held to standard! Coachability is a skill!
- College basketball is hard! Freshmen year college bballis hard. Most freshmen don’t need to be scorers. What are U doing outside of scoring? Need 2 know U can defend, reb, pass, player w/energy, play with effort, be a positive teammate and hustle! That will get you recruited.
- Don’t worry about minutes, who’s playing, who starting! You get one min or 25 minutes fill them up with high effort, high energy, great passing, boxing out, and TALKING!
- This summer, if you don't want to work to improve, that's fine. If you want to chill at the pool or snapchat all day that’s cool too...But you can't be upset this winter when those who have worked play while you sit and watch. @PureIntensityBB
- Sitting w/ 4 college coaches this weekend from different levels. Had a couple parents in front of us complaining about shot attempts & offense not going through there daughter. Every coach marked them off. We want team oriented basketball players!Very sad to watch some kids playing their hearts out to win & others only playing for themselves. Team sports are TEAM sports for a reason. If you’re not there to give everything to your team, you’re there for the wrong reasons. Individual notoriety has no place in team sports!
- A quiet gym is a scared gym. A quiet team is a scared team. A quiet player is a scared player. #BeVocal @PureIntensityBB
- Make sure you send us your schedules for the Roses! We want players who can impact a winning program, who want to defend, who want to play fast, high iq, will take charges, share the ball, be in the gym to work on their game, be great teammates, no entitlement and are winners!
