TONIGHT! Red Planet Mars is at its closest to Earth. It won't get this close again for another 15 years in 2035. You can see it in the east now and it will get higher and more southerly as the evening moves on. Look for an incredibly bright reddish orange star like object.

I see this failing miserably. The movies are great and to be honest unbeatable.

Who's up for watching Dragon dock with the ISS live tomorrow and then watching the pair of them fly over the UK for the last time until July? I'll put times up tomorrow.

Here he is before he fell ill. Gizmo was for a long time my very best friend and deeply loved. Sleep well my little man and I will see you on the other side.

If we go into a #nationallockdown make sure you have warm clothes and a coat. Why I hear you say.... Because I'm going to share the wonders of the night sky with you like I did during the first lockdown. That's why :)

When I started doing stargazing stuff on Twitter, I did it with the help of my trusty feline friend Gizmo, who was always there exploring the stars with me. After a short fight with cancer, he lost his battle this evening and passed away quietly in my arms. I am broken ๐Ÿ˜ช

I'd almost given up on the world until I read the hundreds of kind tweets from you all this evening. Losing a close pet suddenly, is devastating. You have all shown me the human race still has a massive heart! We will bury Huggy Bear in his favourite spot tomorrow. Thank you all.

#AURORA ALERT! The Northern Lights are currently visible in the south of England! You will need a fairly light pollution free and clear sky to see them!
