Public support for non-monogamy and polyamory has risen considerably in recent years. Many advocates argue that normalizing non-monogamy is a progressive reform in line with women's equality and same-sex marriage. But this view is seriously misguided, as I argue in this new

I can't put into words how devastated and shocked I am to hear that one of the brightest lights in this world, Rachel Held Evans, has died. I have been so obstinately hopeful since she got sick and this is completely shattering. I love you so much, Rachel, and I am so sorry.

LGBTQ Methodists: You are God's beloved children, and no vote could ever change that. My heart breaks that your spiritual family is hurting you like this, but remember that God and the church are not the same thing—and God's love for you is unconditional. #GC2019

I'd like to start a thread for LGBTQ people to share how Rachel Held Evans touched our lives. Her impact on our community was enormous and deserves to be recorded. Please share your stories about this amazing woman of God. #BecauseOfRHE

Politics aside, it's truly remarkable that an openly gay man who speaks passionately about his Christian faith garnered as much support as he did in his presidential bid. It would've been inconceivable less than a decade ago, and in an all-too-dispiriting time, it is hope-giving.

The first time I served communion was at Rachel’s invitation four years ago. Serving it again at her funeral yesterday was an honor I will treasure for a lifetime. In life and death, that’s who she was—always bringing people to the table and assuring them that they belong.

Sending love to LGBTQ people who are feeling lonely & alienated from family this Christmas. You deserve to be fully known and fully loved, and even if your family is falling short of that, please know that God loves you as you are—and that the baby Jesus was born for you, too. ❤️

I love Rachel Held Evans so much. God, please bring her protection and healing. Please bring comfort and peace to her husband and their two precious little ones who need their mother. Please bring wisdom to her doctors and help her recover. This world needs her. #PrayforRHE

Three months ago today is when we lost @rachelheldevans. It's still hard to believe and to accept. On this weekend of wrenching pain & violence, I am missing her voice and her light in the world so very much. Love you, Rachel, and sending love and care to your family today. ❤️

Something I didn't expect in 2019: a gay Christian who speaks eloquently about his faith becoming a serious contender in the presidential race. It's remarkable—and deeply encouraging to see.
Scripture teaches us to focus on lifting up the marginalized—to be skeptical of the wealthy, the powerful, the sanctimonious, and the boastful. This, of course, has political implications. washingtonpost.com/religion/2019/…

Happy birthday to @rachelheldevans, one of the most consistent, effective, and thoughtful allies to LGBTQ Christians. She is a blessing to so many and a critical role model for Christians seeking to grow as allies to marginalized people. May her day be full of love and light!

Crying looking at the top books today. All of Rachel Held Evans' books are in the top 30, and "Inspired" is right up there with @MichelleObama. I so want to congratulate Rachel. But even in her absence, her words are still very much being heard. May her influence only grow!

The video from my MSNBC segment today on @PeteButtigieg is now up. The other guest made some pretty offensive remarks, unfortunately, but I was grateful for the opportunity to share a positive message about LGBTQ Christians. Thanks, @kendisgibson!
