    We are deeply disappointed in Jaelene Daniels decision to not participate in the 2022 Pride-Night match.
    We are deeply disappointed in Jaelene Daniels decision to not participate in the 2022 Pride-Night match. We are further let down by the front office of the NC Courage to allow her to do this, in contradiction of public expectations for growth stated by both parties in December 2021. While we embrace a community with diverse beliefs, we cannot endorse behavior that is antithetical to the stated values of inclusion of the league, the club, and its supporters.
    By choosing not to wear a pride jersey she is choosing bigotry and homophobia. These beliefs do not exist in a vacuum. These beliefs lead to ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bills and harmful anti-trans legislation like HB2. Now more than ever it’s important to support, uplift, and affirm the LGBTQ community. Pride is not optional. Pride is not one day. Pride is not one month. Pride is about the continual fight for equality and acceptance for the queer community. Pride is year round.

    The leadership of Uproar NC collectively agree the re-signing of Jaelene Daniels to the NC Courage is unacceptable. As supporters, we believe soccer should be a welcoming space for all, regardless of sexual orientation. We strive to create an open, safe, and inclusive environment at all our games, tailgates, and events.     The Uproar will not drum or chant during the Challenge Cup in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ members of our community who no longer feel welcome or safe at our stadium. We will use our silence to highlight their absence. The NC Courage is our team. We continue to support the players. However, the leadership of our front office refuses to do any meaningful work to address and rectify the harm they have caused. It is because we love this team that we hold them to these minimum standards of equity and inclusion.
