The absolutely spellbinding roof of Wemyss Bay railway station in Inverclyde. The station was built, like the adjoining pier that serves the ferries for the Isle of Bute, in 1903. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/wemyssbay/wemy…

Orkney's amazing Italian Chapel, built in 1943-1944 by Italian prisoners of war on the island of Lamb Holm. They had been brought to Orkney to work on the construction of the Churchill Barriers. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/eastmainland/i…
The image shows the sanctuary of the Italian Chapel, beautifully decorated and with a fine metal screen. Light is coming in from windows on both sides of the curving roof of the Nissen hut the chapel occupies.

The start of the inspirational Calum’s Road, built in ten years by one man across two miles of forbidding terrain to give access to the north end of the island of Raasay. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/raasay/calumsr…
The start of the inspirational Calum’s Road. The image shows a curving single track road climbing a hillside covered in small trees in sunshine. The ground slopes away to the right. There's a road sign in the left foreground saying in English and Gaelic that this is Calum's Road. The rusted remains of a wheelbarrow are on the ground at the foot of the roadsign.

Scotland’s oldest continuously inhabited house, the wonderfully unchanged Traquair House in the Scottish Borders. Parts of it date back at least as far as 1107, when King Alexander I of Scotland signed a royal charter at Traquair. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/innerleithen/t…
Traquair House in the Scottish Borders. The image shows the front of the building in sunshine. It is painted white and is four storeys high and quite wide, with, just visible, wings projecting forward at the sides. There is an ornate metal fence in front of the house with a half-open gate in it. The foreground is grass and flower beds and a hill rises on the right in the background.

The most amazing place in Scotland? Sandwood Bay, south of Cape Wrath in Sutherland, offers nearly a mile and half of wide pinkish sand backed by huge sand dunes and a loch, plus an impressive sea stack: and a very long walk in. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/kinlochbervie/…
Sandwood Bay, south of Cape Wrath in Sutherland. The image shows large waves rolling in from the right over a light blue sea, with sand and rounded rocks in the foreground. Intruding into the image from the left are black cliffs. These end in the middle of the picture and then there is an elegant sea stack.

On this day in history. The Declaration of Arbroath, probably the most important and influential document in Scottish history and considered by UNESCO to be of world significance, was dated 6 April 1320: making it 703 years old today. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arbroath/arbro…
The Declaration of Arbroath. The image shows a replica of the declaration on display in a Perspex box. It is a large single sheet with closely spaced lines of writing at the end furthest from the viewer. At the near end it is cut into multiple vertical strips, each of which has a red or black wax seal on it. At the bottom of the image is an interpretive panel giving background to the declaration.

The lovely curve of the Kylesku Bridge in Sutherland, which replaced a ferry - or a 100 mile detour - in 1984. In our view this must be one of the most beautiful examples of the bridge-builder's art anywhere in the world. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/kylesku/kylesk…
The lovely curve of the Kylesku Bridge in Sutherland. The image shows the bridge from above its north end, curving round to the right above an inlet with a loch extending to the left and rocky high ground in the distance. The sky is pale blue and the bridge is in sunlight coming from the right.

The amazing village of Pennan, set on a shelf below north-facing cliffs on the north Aberdeenshire coast and still famous for its role in the 1983 film Local Hero. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/pennan/pennan/…
The amazing village of Pennan. The image shows a view along the sea wall with a concrete path on top of it. There's a stony beach to the left descending to the sea, which looks blue under a clear blue sky. To the right is a grassy strip and posts for hanging clothes, then a road and the white cottages and houses of the village. The land rises steeply behind the village and there's a large headland in the background.

A view of the stunning beach at Oldshoremore, a scattered settlement near Kinlochbervie in north-west Sutherland. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/kinlochbervie/…
A view of the stunning beach at Oldshoremore. The photo is taken from dunes above the beach and the sand curves round to the left, with waves breaking and a dark blue sea. The headland at the far end is stony. Two tiny figures can be seen walking, some way along the otherwise deserted beach.
