But in all honesty, as a Zulu/English speaking person who grew up in Joburg. I never learnt any other languages because most people I knew or was friends with spoke and understood Zulu well enough. There was no pressure to learn anything.

I read your tweet wrong. The point I'm making is that you can't go on a rant about a random taxi driver not knowing your language but being okay with people you have personal relationships with not being able to communicate with you in your mother tongue.
