One of our Troopers in Weber Co. initiated a traffic stop on what he thought was an impaired driver. Turns out it was this young man, age 5, somehow made his way up onto the freeway in his parents' car. Made it from 17th and Lincoln in Ogden down to the 25th St off-ramp SB I-15.

His story is that he left home after an argument with Mom, in which she told him she would not buy him a Lamborghini. He decided he'd take the car and go to California to buy one himself. He might have been short on the purchase amount, as he only had $3 dollars in his wallet.

While it may seem calmer than it was, winds are expected to gust up to 75 mph again tonight after 9:00 pm in Davis & Weber Counties. Please do not ignore the restrictions on high-profile vehicles (...still in place) in this area.

This is what driving too fast for conditions looks like. As of 5:30 today we have handled 189 crashes statewide from drivers going too fast for the wet weather conditions. We still have more to come, let's everyone slow down and get there safely.

It is with the heavy heart that we report the loss of one of our beloved K9's, Duke. Duke was in service with UHP from 2007-2016 under Capt. Steve Salas. He was responsible for removing 100s of lbs of illicit drugs from the hands of criminal enterprises. You will be missed, Duke.

Momma moose and her two calves (just hours old) got a little mixed up and separated in traffic up in Summit County. Our Troops were able to get them reunited and watched them get clear of the roadways.

At about 10:30 today, on I-15 NB near Cedar City, Troopers stopped 2 cars traveling together for equipment violations, a UHP K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics. Following a search, we found 40 lbs of meth in the lead car and 2 lbs of Heroin + fentanyl pills in the other car.
