    While #Pakistan has made constructive contributions on the #AfghanPeaceProcess, PM Khan's comments did not. The future of #Afghanistan is for #Afghans, and only Afghans, to decide. The role of the international community is to encourage Afghans to come together so they can do so.

    Just finished up in #Islamabad. Met w/ PM @ImranKhanPTI, FM Qureshi & COAS Gen Bajwa. We discussed the PM's Washington visit & what comes next. I briefed them on #AfghanPeaceProcess. We discussed Pakistan's role in support of the process & additional positive steps they can take.

    The USG has assessed ISIS-K conducted the horrific attacks on a maternity ward and a funeral earlier this week in Afghanistan. ISIS has demonstrated a pattern for favoring these types of heinous attacks against civilians and is a threat to the Afghan people and to the world.
