The operation followed the delivery of vital medical aid and essential supplies for residents of Rmeich. UNIFIL’s ongoing liaison and coordination with the parties remains essential to enabling humanitarian access and supporting civilians in south Lebanon.

.@antonioguterres condemns the killing of a Serbian peacekeeper serving with @UNIFIL_ when a mortar impacted a UN Position in Lebanon. Two other peacekeepers were wounded. They are grave violations of int'l humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes.

I condemn the recent killing of a Serbian @UNIFIL_ peacekeeper in Lebanon. Seven peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL have now been killed & several more have been wounded since the escalation in hostilities since March this year. These attacks must stop.

Deliberate attacks on peacekeepers are grave violations of international humanitarian law and of Security Council Resolution 1701, and may amount to war crimes.
