Band is an interesting concept to me in the high school realm. They get to practice band all day and after school. Wonder how good some sports teams would be if coaches only taught their sport all day. Athletes getting individual skill work in during school hours. 🤔

- An athlete who cannot bench, squat, or RDL his own body weight told me we should incorporate more sport-specific exercises into my class... 🤪🤣🤪🤣🤪 I’ll get right on that, buddy.
- We haven’t done resisted sprints all year due to logistics (lack of sleds per athlete, shenanigans w/ bands), but our times still continue to get better. Here are some sprint start variations we do for accel work. Add any that you do that I’m missing.
00:00 - In my class, students earn 5 daily points. I've started having them self-evaluate their daily performance. Many offer honest reflections, which I log in the gradebook. Some delusional responses lead to an honest conversation fostering accountability. Helping my mentals so far.
- Long way to go, but big strides were made today when we pulled out the bumper plate. Hold it firmly to your chest and fold in half. The bumper plate exposes any holes. It should stay in contact with your belly and chest the entire time, and it naturally forces your hips back.
00:00 - Dynamic warm-up I implement with my classes on sprint days. Always subject to change, but this is the core framework. Rhythm, coordination, fluidity, biomechanical reinforcement, positive proprioceptive feedback, elasticity, and feeling good are some boxes we try to check.
00:00 - Strength and Conditioning coaches that have a class during the day, how do you mentally separate the kids that just go through the motions and really never do anything with intent?
- Class Work Today: Warm Up: At the end of video Seated Partner Tag x 2 a piece Arc Race x 2 A1: Wedge Calf Raise 2x10 A2: Reverse Nordic 2x5 A3: Kickstand Squat 2x3/s A4: Copenhagen Plank 2x10”/s B1: RDL 5x3 B2: Seated DB Jump 5x3
00:00 - Single Leg Sprint into a Sprint ✔️Enhances RFD ✔️Improves GCT by encouraging a stiff ankle complex ✔️Encourages proper arm drive to stabilize the body, preventing excessive lateral movement and maintaining forward momentum. ✔️Addresses asymmetries We also do one legged races
00:00 - Seen a satyr do ring-around-the-medball? Me neither, but this is close Probably good for: – Waking up your feet – Building some spring in your ankles – Channeling your inner forest creature Might also help with: – Proprioception – Coordination – Summoning agility spirits
00:00 - Lateral Bear Crawls expose the fake ones. No equipment needed and checks a lot of boxes: ✅ Core & Shoulder Stability ✅ Coordination ✅ Proprioception Challenge ✅ Neuromuscular Challenge ✅ Great Off-Foot Conditioning Tool I like to use them in our Cardiac Output circuit.
00:00 - Sprint work today. You don’t ALWAYS have to time. Flip the hips and tag. Mirror drill.
