A very personal piece this morning on how The Blue Nile's 'Hats', as well as being a cult classic, is the most important album in my life.

The Wedding Present - George Best
Okay, today won't be the first day in months without discovering a new album.
This is a band I know absolutely nothing of, but one I keep seeing recommended and popped up many times in #Top10QuestionSongs
So here goes...
Without Brereton Diaz, without Rothwell on the back of a poor defeat and against one of the most in form and dangerous sides in the division...
That is one of the biggest Championship wins of the season for Blackburn.
They are the real deal #brfc#Rovers

The The - Soul Mining
One of the longest lasting albums on my discovery list to have gone untouched by these ears of mine.
Tonight, that all changes...
Japan released 'Tin Drum' #OnThisDay in 1981.
Leaning further into atmospheric textures, combining with Far Eastern influences and instrumentation, the band's fifth and final album is still an exhilarating and delicate listen to this day.
A 'completely original' record.

Shack - H.M.S. Fable
I'd never heard of this album nor this band before last week.
But all the talk of this record being repressed was met with jubilation from many.
And rightly so - this is a marvel. Reinstated, Comedy, I Want You, a plethora of stunners here.
First spin of Television's 'Marquee Moon' after absolutely countless streams since it was my 27th new-to-me listen if 2025 in late January.
I didn't think it could sound any better than it already did.
But good God, it really is in-fucking-credible!

The Cure - Pornography
I've gone from admiring The Cure to falling madly in love.
But I remain convinced that Pornography is their best album.
I'm a sucker for a record that has one vibe throughout, a haunting tightness clings through this record and never lets go
It's been some year for me and Pink Floyd.
Just over 12 months ago, I listened to Dark Side Of The Moon for the first time - hate is a strong word, but I found it boring and bloated.
Now, I absolutely can't get enough of it.
A classic with exceptional reason.
My Bloody Valentine's 'Loveless' was released #OnThisDay in 1991.
Undoubtedly the poster child of so-called shoegaze, Kevin Shields' created new sonic possibilities.
The album helped bankrupt Creation Records, but MBV and their fans would say that's a small price to pay.
