This amazing salticid was photographed by my friend Aloke Sahu in Cebu and shared with permission. It is believed to belong to the subtribe Simaethina but no definite identification as yet. The striking colouration could be beetle mimicking. #TurnFear2Fascination #LoveSpiders

True story! My interest in spiders dragged me out of a 26 year addiction to heroin and crack cocaine. This November 18th I will have been drug free for 8 years so I thank my eight legged friends for doing what no drug counsellor managed to achieve.

This unique jumping spider, Thiania sp was photographed by Peter Grob at Doi Tung in the Thai highlands of Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. Remarkably scorpion like, information on this spider is pretty non existent. #Educate #TurnFear2Fascination and #Lovespiders

Today whilst clearing out a wood pile I had the pleasure of coming across one of the UK's larger spiders, the impressive Segestria florentina. This spider has had a lot of bad press due to the size and them metallic green chelicerae but I think they are stunning!! #LoveSpiders

Generally web-building spiders have three claws on the end of each leg which helps the spider cling on to its web. Non web builders, for example tarantulas, have two claws. This is a close up of my Tarantulas claws. #Educate #TurnFear2Fascination and #LoveSpiders
