Islamic State's Amaq Agency released a video showing ISWAP fighters murdering 5 Christians kidnapped in Garkida (in Nigeria's Adamawa State) on Christmas Eve. They were killed just for being Christians. Awful.
ISWAP/BH #Fulani boys chilling in public, in broad daylight with AK47, educating fellow #Fulani men on their pathway to the Atlantic Ocean. No army, no police. No air strikes, no shoot at sight. No @CatrionaLaing1
Meanwhile, in Biafraland, young men are being shot at sight.
TIL: Nigeria's 2021 budget has 1.6 billion Naira for "Purchase of OSINT Software" (about 3.5 million Euro).
My questions:
1. Most of the software is free so what are you going to buy?
2. If this includes other things (like salaries or something), where can I apply? 😂
THREAD: Out of curiosity, for a year I've been recording every attack claimed by ISIS. I marked each one on a map. This heatmap is the result of my work.
Link: bit.ly/2W9csQT
Between 16/10/18 and 15/10/19, ISIS claimed responsibility for over 3000 attacks.
(THREAD) Terrorism in the Lake Chad area in 2021.
This is a compilation of open-source information (such as articles, statements, videos, claims + their verification, etc.) about the Boko Haram conflict.
The 2020 thread is available here:
Update number six #Venezuela:
Salvador, Uruguay, Georgia officially backing Guaido, Iran supports Maduro
EU countries marked as "expected to support Guaido".
Dependent territories also marked.
No updates until morning CET.
#Map: Areas of #ISIS activity in last 3 months (16/10-15/01)
Link: api.mapbox.com/styles/v1/rolb…
I compiled all ISIS Amaq and official statements in last 3 months. This heatmap is the result of my work. Red area means high ISIS activity there (exception - Talul Safa in Damascus).
If you want to feel depressed very quickly, I have something for you:
1. Open Google Earth.
2. Find Borno State and zoom in to see towns and villages.
3. Open historical imagery.
4. Use the time slider to see those towns and villages disappear.
5. Voila.
#Map: #ISIS activity in the last 3 months (Heatmap). About 100 hours of work during these 90 days, but totally worth it.
Link: bit.ly/2GqZZ3r
As in most of the heatmaps, red area = high activity. Blue = there was something.
More information below.
(THREAD) For the new year, I'm starting a new thread about terrorism in Lake Chad basin, mainly ISWAP (though not ISGS), but also JAS and Nigerian Army's response to the threat.
To see the 2019 thread, check here:
(THREAD) #Nigeria: In this thread I will be posting all #ISWAP attack claims and everything connected to Nigerian Army's fight against the terrorists in northeastern part of the country. It will be better to have everything in one place. Stay tuned.
