I have decided that the best attitude is that anything accomplished in 2020 is a bonus. Don't be down on yourself because you are depressed. Be happy if you get anything accomplished during a day. We have to get through this. Then we can enjoy life again!

Modern Monetary Theory is becoming popular in Argentina just in time to help the government bankrupt itself and send the country into yet another economic depression. The economic history of Argentina is proof that MMT is nonsense, or a badly cut drug as @constant_hevia puts it.
La MMT es droga mal cortada. Y, además, convierte inmediatamente en agresivo al que la sostiene.

Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine set for approval this week in UK. Fundación Carlos Slim made a deal with Astra-Zeneca to package the vaccine in Mexico. I hope private sector in Mexico can do a better job than AMLO in delivering the vaccine. H/T: @econokafka

Argentinian government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is conducting an experiment: Can price controls stop inflation? Other, including the US under Nixon, have tried and failed. Like other economists, I expect a miserable failure.

Bob Solow and I were colleagues at MIT in early 1980s. He helped me obtain fellowship from Sloan Foundation to spend 1983-84 at Churchill College, Cambridge. He, his wife Bobby, and I were neighbors in the Churchill Flats at the college. I have great memories of a great man.
RIP. Bob Solow an absolute giant in Economics, has passed away at age 99. Tremendously influential in the profession and one of the key founders of the MIT Economics department as we live it today. Will be sorely missed.

Spain will run fiscal deficits this year and next. Spain will be buried by debt for generations without a national recovery plan for productivity growth, improved education, and flexible labor markets. How can this be done with cooperation among different levels of government?
