Athlete of the year is done and dusted. Sifan Hassan leaves the Olympics with the single greatest achievement of any athlete in the entire Games. She had one day rest between Olympic 10,000m bronze and winning the marathon!

Georgia Bell's story is staggering. Born in Paris, Bell was a prodigious youngster and became English Schools 800m champion in 2008. After injuries when studying at the University of California, she lost her passion for the sport before trying it out again during Covid.

Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows deserve to win BBC SPOTY Coaches of the Year. In Keely Hodgkinson (800m gold) and Georgia Bell (1500m bronze), they've now trained two of their athletes to the Olympic podium. M11 Track Club is on fire right now.

Letsile Tebogo is one of the most exciting athletes in track and field right now. If he is on the start line, I will watch the race with so much anticipation. I think he'll get near and could break Usain Bolt's world 200m record of 19.19 in his career.

This is what the Olympics is all about. Incredible from Eilish McColgan to wait for Megan Keith at the end and embrace her at the finish line. Both are world class athletes and deserved that entire stage to themselves in that one moment.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen, in a funny way, set that race up perfectly for his competitors. Went out ridiculously hard and tried to run the Olympic 1500m final gun-to-tape. He was essentially a pacemaker for the guys behind him and when they had more in the tank down the final

This might well be Jakob Ingebrigtsen's greatest achievement to date in track and field. There's a reason Daniel Komen's world 3000m record of 7:20.67 has lasted since 1996... it's that good. Ingebrigtsen took over three seconds off it, running the equivalent of 58.34 400ms

Grand Slam Track has absolutely nailed the concept of having two events in groups/categories. Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi taking down the entire 1500m podium from Paris in their own event was special. Gabby Thomas doesn’t run 49.17 in the 400m if she’s not up

Absolutely unreal. Alex Yee beat Hayden Wilde to the Olympic triathlon gold medal after overtaking him in the final few corners in Paris. The same happened again over in Boston, in the first Supertriathlon League race of 2024.
