I made a decision long ago to tweet in my native English Dialect, African-American Vernacular English (AAVE). Please don't correct my English. If you ever need me to interpret, just ask.

A 9 year old died from #Covid_19 yesterday in Florida. A 5 year old died from Covid-19 in Dallas today. A major component in the low death rate we saw in children had to do with our policy to limit children exposure, by closing schools.

On Tuesday my mid child will be 6.5 years old. I will be exactly 6 months away from paying off my 20% portion of her $1.2mil birth. We can't be deciding as a country to force carrying pregnancies when we wont provide insurance that covers the cost.

1470 cases of monkeypox. No longer any point in comparing to the outbreak 19 years ago when we were able to contain it after 47 cases. Is it time to say the quiet part out loud? Our individualized perspective to public health ruined our ability to control diseases.

HIV epidemic in the 80's changed how we have sex, making sex with condoms the norm. Over 1 million people died in the US from COVID, with an unknown number of those disabled by it. Yet, there will be no lasting behavioral change, policies, or funding. Heck, in some places

one of my first jobs in public health was teaching people how to navigate asking a partner to wear a condom. After my interaction with my uber driver today, where she asked me to roll up the window due to high temps, I realize that we need to teach people how to navigate

The CDC wants you to remain masked during a 2-hour flight where we can document the number of air exchanges per minute, but not at your job or your child's school building where we may or may not have data on ventilation. Why is that?

me- so, like 600- 700 people dying from it in a week would be "like nobody"? her- <shrugs, uncomfortably> me- 616 people died from it yesterday. her- <mouth dropped open> Well thats sure news to me.

Random man at the store- baby, you should get vaccinated so you can stop wearing that mask me- sir, I'm vaccinated. I wear a mask bc I come in contact with COVID everyday, and I want to protect you and others from what I may not know that I have him- oh! thank you

861 people died as a result of pregnancy in 2020. This number is up 18% compared to 2019. We cant be forcing carrying pregnancies when we cant even keep people alive during childbirth.
