The ICU has been busy snapping away! 📸 The team recently ordered a Polaroid camera to take photos of themselves to stick to their gowns, so that their awake COVID patients can see their lovely faces underneath all that PPE. :) A bit of fun for all during a difficult time!

We're jumping for joy! 🎉 After 175 days, ICU's Pod B is now closed to COVID-19 patients because of lower COVID-19 presentations. We have 6 rooms still available in the ICU for COVID-19 patients, and the ability to "switch back" Pod B to COVID-19 beds is always there if needed.

Raul has been a much-loved cleaner here at RMH for more than 20 years. Recently he went above and beyond to help a Spanish-speaking distressed patient - calmly translating for them and making them feel less afraid/alienated within the hospital.

Great work by our vaccination team at MCEC getting through the crowds today. We now have capacity to take walk-ins for vaccinations - head down now! MCEC will be open until 6pm today. 💉😃

STATEMENT: We are aware of a hospital support staff member who made an abhorrent and disgraceful anti-semitic comment on Facebook. The comment does not reflect @TheRMH and our values. We do not tolerate racial or religious hatred, contempt or ridicule. [1/2]

If you watched Emergency on @Channel9 Monday night you would have seen 21-year-old medical student Vittorio, who came in with mystery numbness on the left side of his body to the concern of emergency physician Dr Emma West. We have an update on him. 🧵

He wanted to pass on this message to the public: "If there's anything I'd want to say, it would be try not to get COVID-19 - you don't know how your body will react to it"

The staff member is no longer an employee of the hospital and we apologise for the hurt and anger this has caused. We stand with and support our Jewish staff members, patients and community. [2/2]

After he saw Emma he started having trouble walking. He received an MRI and neurologists found 2 areas in his brain which were under attack by his immune system. Why? It turned out Vittorio had COVID-19 recently and his immune system went into overdrive.

There's some very simple things you can do to reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19: - Wear a mask in public places - Practice social distancing - Get your 3rd or 4th dose (if eligible) from your GP or pharmacy - Talk to your GP about a COVID-19 plan, including antivirals
