    After 30+ years at the helm, Mark Morris boys basketball coach Bill Bakamus has announced his intention to resign at the end of this season. He broke the news to his last crop of Monarchs this morning. The pride of Morton has coached more than 4 decades and has close to 700 wins.

    Today I make the leap... I'll be switching from reporter at The Chronicle to sports editor at The Daily News in Longview. More than 7 years after my first byline for The Chron team I'm headed back to the paper that first made me fall in love with newspapers as a kid.

    After 33 years, Toutle Lake boys basketball coach Eric Swanson will be calling it a career at the end of the season. Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Fighting Ducks host Toledo for Senior Night in their final home game of the year. Swanson and his son Zach will go out together.
