We have real and grave concerns about these sudden changes to the Pfizer vaccine regime It undermines the consent process, as well as completely failing to follow the science. Here is our letter to @MattHancock and JCVI today #covidvaccine

Thank Rosena for advocating for doctors and NHS staff so eloquently. This is shameful from the Health Secretary.
I will respectfully challenge the Government - I want our country to succeed. However, I will not 'watch my tone' when dozens of NHS and care staff are dying unnecessarily. A clip of my Q to the Health Sec today.

Our letter to @MattHancock today after hearing reports that #NHS staff are being denied the #covidvaccine because they don't have an NHS number. #ProtectTheFrontline
    Dear Health Secretary
The Doctors’ Association UK is extremely concerned regarding an issue that maybe preventing NHS staff being vaccinated over a bureaucratic obstacle – placing the hospital response to the COVID-19 pandemic at risk and also causing NHS trusts to exploit foreign labour.
As we are sure you are aware, a large number of NHS trusts are requiring the use of an NHS number for staff to be vaccinated. There are a significant number of staff who do not have this, resulting in frontline staff from countries all around the world who have been instrumental in combating the pandemic being denied the vaccine.
This is unconscionable and amoral and must be rectified with immediate effect. Failure to do so spits in the faces of colleagues who have demonstrated unswerving commitment to the health of the British public and disrespects the memory of our deceased colleagues from foreign countries.
A spokesperson from your department has stated that “Vaccines for coronavirus will be
“Vaccines for coronavirus will be offered to every adult living in the UK free of charge, regardless of immigration status.” This is clearly not the case and the denial of the experience of frontline staff cannot be allowed to continue.

Administrative issues cannot be used as an excuse to deny staff vaccination. Doing so puts their lives in danger, risks increasing staff sickness and hampering hospital staffing levels.

International NHS staff have already faced issues during the pandemic regarding visas and threats of deportation in addition to many facing an increased risk from COVID-19. This is the latest issue that risks alienating staff that are vital the functioning of the NHS and will present an obstacle to staff retention longer term.

The simple solution to all these issues would be to grant Indefinite Leave to Remain to all NHS staff, care workers and dependents who have worked through the pandemic and DAUK would urge you to endorse this when it is presented to parliamen

DAUK have written to Boris Johnson today with concerns over the current pressures on the NHS due to COVID-19 We have called for a full national lockdown and extended closure of schools.

At the Doctors Association UK (DAUK), we speak out on behalf of frontline doctors and share the widespread alarm at the enormous rise of the recent new variant of the SARS COVID-19 virus. Doctors, alongside our other healthcare colleagues, are becoming increasingly concerned by the risk of the NHS being overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of patients requiring ward and critical care beds. We believe that the current arrangements are not working in London and the SE and that it is only a matter of time before the new variant spreads to the whole of the country. We acknowledge that all of these decisions are far from easy to make but the speed of the acceleration is deeply worrying and we are deeply concerned that current measures don’t appear to be containing transmission of the virus. For the fifth day in a row over 50,000 transmissions have been recorded and the death toll is climbing inexorably. We are particularly worried that things will get even worse as the effects of Christmas an

(i)             DAUK believes that current restrictions are not working and we are very concerned that if the current situation is simply left to continue there could be disastrous consequences for both patients and NHS staff.

(ii)            Despite the urgency given to the COVID-19 vaccination programme, we are not at all confident that it will prevent the NHS being overwhelmed in the very near future.

(iii)           We believe that a further period of even tighter restrictions is essential to avert a national disaster and call now for the implementation of a full national lockdown.

(iv)          We also endorse the current decision not to open schools next week but ask for this to be extended in order to protect the NHS and ensure that its staff can continue to deliver safe care. We acknowledge that this will undoubtedly mean significant problems for many families. Vulnerable children and those of key workers should still be able to attend school.

Over 650 healthcare workers died. They had to buy masks from screwfix and sent desperate emails begging for PPE just before they got COVID and lost their lives. Now doctors are taking the Govt to court for a public inquiry into the deaths of NHS staff and PPE with @GoodLawProject
In the desperate scramble for PPE contracts went to politically connected companies with no experience of producing PPE, as frontline NHS workers were sent onto the frontlines with bin bags for gowns. 650 health care workers died. Our article with @nytimes nytimes.com/interactive/20…

On #23rdJune the govt is about to slip through the biggest grab of patient data in #NHS history. We have less than three weeks to stop it If the government won’t drop its deadline we need to go to court for an urgent injunction #marr #Ridge #NHSDataGrab

Without doctors and nurses from overseas the NHS would collapse. It is grossly unfair we ask them to pay the extortionate Immigration Health Surcharge at time when our country is relying on them. Thank you to @Keir_Starmer for reading our letter at #PMQs today.

Migrant NHS staff have put their lives on the line for this country. It is completely unacceptable that they are being DENIED a vaccine in many hospitals in England. We will not stand for this. RT if you stand with us.
