    The AJR is deeply saddened to learn that Zigi Shipper has passed away on his 93rd birthday. Born in Łódź, Poland, Zigi was a survivor of Auschwitz-Birkenau and Stutthof. In 1947 he arrived in Britain, where he started a family and a business career.

    Did you know.... the AJR has supported refugees from Nazi persecution since 1941, and we continue to support them today. Our oldest member is 108 years old! #RefugeeWeek2022

    The AJR was delighted to enable & accompany two members Marianne Phillips and her son to visit the Kindertransport memorial at Liverpool St Station. She came from Berlin on a Kindertransport in Aug 1939. Aged 99 living in Manchester, she wished to visit the place 84 years later.

    On 9 November 1938, Nazi leaders unleashed pogroms against the Jewish population in Germany and other territories. This event came to be called #Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass) because of the shattered glass that littered the streets after the vandalism.
