This shit is pretty wild and should probably be a bigger story. Fans expressing frustration in non-violent ways has ALWAYS been an acceptable part of sports. Not letting folks tape their logos or chant “Fire Nico” is so incredibly soft by the Mavs.
Even subtle, silent protest was not allowed at the AAC today. My buddy and I put tape over the Mavericks logos on our gear. We were forced to remove the tape by an usher, under threat of removal.
Any time a “Fire Nico” or “Sell the Team” chant would start, a half dozen ushers
