Taking the temperature on staff morale in the #NHS A thread: It feels increasingly clear that the bucolic morale boost that came with the 1st wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has been misinterpreted. Healthcare workers stepped up for PATIENTS not for their Trusts.

I’m not comfortable with this. So second Pfizer vaccine delayed. Then if there is none left by 12 weeks - you *may* then get Oxford. There is literally zero data to support this whatsoever. I don’t recall being recruited to a clinical trial when vaccinated.
So the vaccination green book has been updated.. gov.uk/government/pub… I'm wondering whether this is legitimately going to work? 🤔 If you had the first Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine dose and they run out, the second dose can be AstraZeneca/Oxford

To the immunosuppressed+CEV community I am so very aware of how you must be feeling right now. You have my full support I am not sure what more I can do to help or advocate for you as I have been doing since Jan 2020 but I shall try Everyone matters #CEV #Immunosuppressed

Must watch Thank you @lewis_goodall and team - impossible time watch this and conclude there is no crisis. Exactly the type of reporting required: Our ICUs are full of much younger people, space is at a premium, everyone working at their limits. Yet somehow calm & controlled.

Genuine question: Why do doctors need donations from the public? Surely we are the lucky ones financially with regular salary, pension contributions and sick leave. Anyone else feeling a bit uncomfortable about this? Happy to stand corrected.

When Junior Doctors were trying to warn public about this we were smeared as"greedy militants". But we were right. Manufactured crisis #NHS

Several things need to happen with immediate effect in the NHS 1. Xmas parties have to be cancelled 2. All owed Covid overtime needs to be paid out ASAP 3. We need to build back up capacity into all rotas 4. If staff raise concerns re PPE listen and act 5. Boosters

Strange gasps of horror can be heard throughout the #NHS as it dawns on its 1.3 million employees that the lesser of two evils may be @Jeremy_Hunt #ToryLeadershipContest

I worry that the same people who have had to tackle the pandemic now have to tackle the huge backlog of #NHS work caused by the pandemic. No respite on the horizon for the NHS for a long while yet. I think we need urgent strategies to manage burn out&pace ourselves - Thread:
    Replying to @GMB
‘If you don’t fund the NHS for years, then it’s exposed when a crisis hits.’ New figures reveal 10m people could be on the waiting list for hospital treatment by April. @jonAshworth says the NHS has been 'underfunded for years' and the impact is being felt during the pandemic.

The @RCPhysicians owes a huge debt of gratitude to the original brave Fellows who stuck their necks out and brought the EGM into fruition and then repeatedly held the College to task over the past 6 months I have yet to see them even acknowledged #EGM #AGM #RCP 1/3
Today @TheKingsFund has published the findings of its independent learning review into the RCP EGM in March. We fully accept the report and its 10 recommendations. We have pledged to learn and, more importantly, to act, improve and rebuild for fellows and members. Read our full

I am increasingly concerned about the children of Health Care and other key workers in this pandemic. At risk of catching illness, temporary childcare that’s unfamiliar, parents away during terrifying & unsettling time, no grandparents. #NHS #Covid_19 #covid19UK
