    Joseph Girard III drops in 60 points (yes, 60) as Glens Falls beat Amsterdam 86-76 in the Foothills Council. He now has 2,403 career points -- one point behind the school-record total of 2,404 points held by Jimmer Fredette. Girard is averaging 49.2 points per game.

    High-risk winter high school sports -- basketball, hockey and wrestling -- have been given approval by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to begin practicing Feb. 1 as long as county health officials give the go-ahead.

    Joseph Girard III pumped in 69 points (10 3-pointers, 17 for 21 at the foul line) to break the Section II record held by St. Joseph's Rich Campoli (67 points during the 1964-65 season) as Glens Falls beat Schuylerville 98-83.

    Joseph Girard III finished with 54 points Friday (nine 3-pointers, 7-for-8 FTs) to lead Glens Falls past Johnstown 91-71. The 6-foot-2 junior point guard now has 2,908 career points and needs 39 to surpass Lance Stephenson to become the all-time leading scorer in state history.

    Shenendehowa grad Ian Anderson, the 2016 Times Union Large School Baseball Player of the Year, was dynamic in his MLB pitching debut Wednesday for the Atlanta Braves vs. the New York Yankees (6 IP, 1H, 1R, 2BB, 6K over 90 pitches). He earns his first career win in a 5-1 victory.

    Joseph Girard III pumped in 58 points Friday (seven 3-pointers, 25-for-25 at the foul line) to lead Glens Falls past Hudson Falls 104-65. The junior has now scored 697 points in 14 games this season, moving him to the No. 2 slot all-time in state history with 2,854 career points.

    Glens Falls junior guard Joseph Girard III -- with Boston College coach Jim Christian watching his every move -- poured in 48 points Thursday as the Indians (4-0) defeated Johnstown 87-69. Girard is now averaging 46.5 points per game and has tallied 2,343 career points.
