    After the failure of Castlemas Ltd to pay some suppliers, including TMBC, we have written to the company's directors informing them that we will not host future events with which they are involved. We are hoping to find a new event for Christmas 2023 and will keep you updated.
    Text of a letter to the directors of Castlemas Ltd from Robert Styles, Director of Street Scene, Leisure and Technical services. Extract: Due to the current outstanding debts and the consequential impact of your event locally, we as a Council will not permit you to use our land for any future events even should you clear your outstanding debts. As you aware there remains some invoices to the Council for the 2022 event. We expect to be paid in full too, being taxpayers money.

    We recognise that our waste service has been unreliable & apologise to affected residents.We have informed our contractor that we are triggering penalty clauses in our contract & drafting in extra staff to help clear missed collection reports & inspectors to monitor daily rounds.

    We are pleased to announce that permission has been granted for the use of our land for the return of Tonbridge Junior parkrun provisionally on 6 June (to be confirmed) and we support the return of the 5km parkrun from 26 June 2021, subject to government guidance at the time.

    Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, Sue Bell, has had a busy week attending events in the borough, including the Aylesford Priory Christmas fair, Tonbridge Baptist Church with Hilden Grange schoolchildren, and a special event for the Ukrainian families and their hosts.

    Thanks to a local resident who took photos of people unloading bags of rubbish from their car in Common Road in the North Downs, we were able to track down the culprits and issue a fine of £400. Fly tipping is an anti-social crime. Report it here: orlo.uk/z1PKk
