In Dilexi te, Pope Leo poses an urgent challenge for Christians in the US and around the world: “Either we regain our moral and spiritual dignity or we fall into a cesspool."
Just Google "Letter from the Holy Father to the Bishops of the United States of America" which should clear up any confusion you have about what Ordo Amoris really means and where the Catholic Church truly stands on your administration's immigration policies.
Just google “ordo amoris.” Aside from that, the idea that there isn’t a hierarchy of obligations violates basic common sense. Does Rory really think his moral duties to his own children are the same as his duties to a stranger who lives thousands of miles away? Does anyone?
As a Chicago Catholic, and a franciscan friar of Our Lady of Guadalupe Province, I stand with Cardinal Cupich in speaking out against Trump's mass deportation policy. We stand with the immigrants of this city and all over the country. We must accompany, serve, and protect them.
BREAKING: From Guadalupe Basilica in Mexico City, Chicago’s Cardinal Cupich speaks out against Trump’s immigration raids calling them “profoundly disturbing,” and “an affront to the dignity of all people and communities…denying the legacy of what it means to be an American.”
Serving migrants regardless of immigration status IS Catholic.
"Attention must be called to the rights of migrants and their families and to respect for their human dignity, even in cases of non-legal immigration” - 1999, Ecclesia in America, Pope John Paul II
Your bishop in DC calls your immigration policy "incompatible with Catholic teaching" as well as "morally repugnant" and "inhumane." An immigration policy carried out through the "mechanism of fear," which tears families apart, cannot be considered a just policy.
Ha, Vance is "heartbroken" by the bishops standing with marginalized people. Vance should be heartbroken he has allowed his political affiliation to take precedence over his faith. This is idolatry and shows the true loyalty of his heart. Not Jesus, but Trump.
Vance attacks the church: "The US Conference of Catholic Bishops needs to look in the mirror a little bit & recognize that when they receive more than $100m to resettle illegal immigrants, are they worried about humanitarian concerns or are they worried about their bottom line?"
America First is anti-Christian. Has he ever heard of the parable of the good Samaritan?
"There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus."
Galatians 3:28
JD VANCE: There is a Christian concept that you love your family and then you love your neighbor, and then you love your community, and then you love your fellow citizens, and then after that, prioritize the rest of the world
A lot of the far left has completely inverted that
Enough of this "walls around the Vatican" BS. It's not totally surrounded by walls. Much of the Vatican is open to the public. It's visited by thousands of people every day from around the world. Also, it fits into a fifth of Central Park. It's not a real comparison.
Border Czar @RealTomHoman rejects Pope Francis' immigration critique:
"I’ve got harsh words for the Pope. Pope ought to fix the Catholic Church...He wants to attack us securing our border? He has a wall around the Vatican, does he not?
So he has a wall to protect his people
The thing that will bankrupt this country more than any other policy is flooding the country with illegal immigration and then giving those migrants generous benefits.
The OBBB fixes this problem. And therefore it must pass.
- bishops and religious orders speak out against mass deportations and cuts to poverty relief
- USCCB makes multiple statements against mass deportation
- Pope sends letter to US bishops against US migration policy
I think we know the Catholic position on this administration
I'm praying for the Pope tonight. He is the leader we need, with more integrity and humility than most. Whatever happens, remember that God is in control. The mission of God will continue.
Any interpretation of Francis' papacy as a source of "arbitrariness" or "confusion" should be rejected.
Instead, we should recognize, as Leo XIV does, how Pope Francis' teaching is masterful and concrete. Any other interpretation will lead people astray.
Archbishop Georg Gänswein ecstatic with new Pope: "The season of arbitrariness is over. The confused past must be overcome" "The institutions of the Church are not a leprosy". @Pontifex#conclave2025cathcon.blogspot.com/2025/05/archbi…
