I mean, it's all doable. We just have to build lots of solar, wind, and nuclear capacity; and stop using fossil fuels.

My plan for new nuclear in the UK: 1) Hire a bunch of Koreans 2) Buy a dog The job of the Koreans is to build the nuclear power plants to the APR-1400 design. The job of the dog is to bite any British civil servant who tries to interfere with the Koreans.

Funny how some things get reported as percentages of GDP and some things get reported in billions of pounds.
EXCLUSIVE Keir Starmer joins calls for 🇬🇧 military budget to increase to 2.5% of GDP. He tells @theipaper: "On defence spending, obviously we want to get to 2.5% as soon as resources allow that to happen." Read the full story: inews.co.uk/news/politics/…

There are basically three facts in British politics: 1) North Sea oil has gone. 2) The dependency ratio is going to rise. 3) We won’t build things. This explains everything.
When I finished high school, top income tax was 40%, stamp duty 1%, VAT 17.5%, debt/GDP 38%, and University was free.
Now top income tax is 45%-48% (# /X), top stamp duty 19%, VAT 20%, debt/GDP 100%, and University costs tens of thousands.
Where did all the money go??

1 like = 1 utterly deranged idea to reverse the UK’s relative decline.

I feel a great disturbance in the Force, as if Ted Cruz was owned so hard he cried out, and was suddenly silenced.

My recollection was that Iraq was: 1) Government tells a bunch of obvious lies. 2) Massive protest and public opposition 3) The Americans do the thing and the UK tags along. Now it's more like: 1) Government is broadly honest. 2) Massive public support. 3) Americans bow out.

Many might decry this salary, but there are a damn sight many people in this country that can only dream if earning £57k/yr!
Turn your nose up at it if you like, but shock horror, not everyone earns six figure salaries!

But they *aren’t*. They never have been in my lifetime or the lifetimes of either of these people. The ‘Conservative’ party is a radical small-state right wing project that has worked to upturn the social order for the last 40 years now.
