So the strategy all along was to bring back labor intensive manufacture of underwear and shoes but not iPhones and semiconductors. Brilliant.

It's a wonderful story about fascism in Brazil in the 1970s that will strongly resonate with American audiences today. Hopefully people will find it.
Weekend Actuals came much higher for 3x #Oscars nominee #ImStillHere aka #AindaEstouAqui, which became just 3rd Brazilian film in history to cross 3M mark at U.S. #BoxOffice! Despite losing -235 theatres, now playing in 469, #FernandaTorres still grossed 628k on 5th limited

Hopefully Lisa Cook fights this. It’s not clear Trump has the authority to remove Fed governors —and even if he does, this is a pretext and there’s no cause. She can go to court if necessary.

I know people like to dunk on Larry Summers, but the great thing about his prediction is no matter what happens with the economy he can say he was right.

The problem with direct checks to people, if done through refundable tax credits, is timing. In 2008, the stimulus passed in February and most Americans got checks in May/July. That's WAY too long in the current situation. bloomberg.com/news/articles/… via @petercoy @BW @economics

Terrific thread here. Lots of high-skilled Indian immigrants in Atlanta area, and while on work visas, they struggle to stay in the US! It's super hard to get a green card. Indian friend is considering moving to Canada, where it's much easier.
1/Today's @bopinion post is about immigrants from India (and China), and why we should take in more of them! And how to do that. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

Those who blame U.S. inflation on fiscal stimulus, the Biden administration or the Federal Reserve may need to explain why German and global inflation are also spiking higher. It's not just an issue for the U.S. bloomberg.com/news/articles/… via @markets @economics @ZSchneeweiss

Fed Chair Powell says he likes people and wish more would feel free to come up to him and chat. When he's in public, at restaurants, etc., feel free to come by and say hi. "Even people that I know are reluctant to come up, which is unfortunate because I like to talk to people."
