- Manager Mark Kotsay says that he, @Athletics' players and coaches will acknowledge the crowd after tomorrow's Coliseum finale vs. @Rangers. Kotsay is unsure if anyone will speak to the fans as a whole: "I don’t think words can make it any easier for them."

- Personal aside: I have known Bob Melvin for more than 4 decades. In that time, the qualities that define him — intelligence, respect, caring and an understated sense of humor — have remained strong. Oakland’s loss is San Diego’s gain.
