For 20 years people have been asking me, "When is CBS going to give you your own prime time special?" I can now answer that definitively. Wednesday at 10PM ET. The show is called "The Gift: Kindness Goes Viral" and I'm really hoping you'll tune in - for a couple reasons:

A note from Steve: I have some very sad news to report about one of my very favorite stories. Dan Peterson has died. Dan was the widower who got a hug from the little girl in the grocery store. It was the hug felt ‘round the world. (1/4)

My son, Gabe McDonnell, 13, of Lindsay, OK, learned Taps in less than 24hrs and played on our porch this rainy #MemorialDay w/ #CBSTaps. He was nervous because he couldn't do it perfectly, but I'm proud. We don't need to be perfect to make a difference. Thanks, @SteveHartmanCBS.
