Saved by grace. Riley & Lauren’s dad. TFP sports editor. Life-long Braves, Falcons fan. “Truly my soul finds rest in God, my salvation comes from Him.” Psalm 62
Wrote about this kid @Lukerector08 earlier this week. He asked for CWS tickets as a HS graduation present 6 months ago, came with his dad Tommy - both huge Vols fans - and they sat through all 15 games. Think the natty was special for those two? Lifetime memory made.
Text message from a buddy who’s a big Bama fan: “I’ve laughed so hard at Tennessee for years, especially these last couple of weeks. I’m not laughing anymore. The Vols are serious about football again. Game on.”
Just had a call from a former UT player who said “for the first time in a decade I feel like there’s somebody in charge of the program who loves Tennessee as much as I do.” I think more than a few might agree with that assessment.
Vols locker room is on the other side of the wall from the interview room. Heard loudly just now, the team singing the “We don’t give a damn about the whole state of Oklahoma, we’re from Tennessee!” chant
Boo Carter is meeting with Vols coaches today to discuss his future with the program. I spoke with his family earlier and was told it has “nothing to do with NIL money”.
Boo wants to remain a Vol, he just wants a chance to play some offense.
Citing mental health effects (rise in depression, suicide, drug abuse) Dr. David Bruce said shutting down sports is more dangerous to teens than concern over the virus itself. Added reports used by college conferences to not play is misleading

@_jnorwood3 reaction to the offer from UT - dropped the phone & began crying. Thanked UT coaches and said "I can't explain what this means to me." Norwood had said earlier "Nobody has ever touched that sign above the door & given their all more than I will for UT." #bestofpreps
