There is nothing disrespectful about that. Japanese is the language of Japan. What right has anyone to demand that they speak French, or Portuguese, or English? If anything, it's disrespectful to demand accommodation. It's their land, it's their terms.

Family treating you like absolute garbage such as OP's greentext is why people start using drugs in the first place. Which, of course, the family then uses as an excuse to treat someone like garbage. It's a cycle.
