Social media can become very overwhelming very quickly. This is especially the case for S&C coaches wanting to make a name for themselves. I personally have become disillusioned by it many times for many different reasons. However, there's hope. Social media coach realities 👇🏽

I am still seeing people complain about others getting jobs because they know someone ‘on the inside’. Our industry isn’t different to any other! People do business with those they know, like and trust. Be the guy/girl who knows someone ‘on the inside’. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS!!!

It’s this type of tweet that glorifies the fantasy of the grind and leads to coaches being burnt out at the age of 30. 👇🏼Absolute nonsense 😡

I have spoken to 2 people recently who have been hiring. When talking to each of them about the process, both said their first question when meeting a potential colleague/employee was ‘would I go for a pint with him/her?’ Be interested, be interesting and don’t be a d*ck!

So many interesting points in this very short clip from Gary Neville’s interview with Thierry Henry. Incredible upper body strength on the ball but never did any weights. Didn’t do lower body strength training and valued time on the pitch to hone skills vs time in the gym 🤔

Given the current situation, I am sure there are many coaches & sports scientists who are considering consultancy/freelancing. 3 years ago I realised that I wanted to have more control when it came to being able to pay my bills. Below are my lessons for being self-employed -
