We are waiving all charges for calls to Tonga from Spark landlines or mobiles until next Sunday. We know immediate contact may not be possible, due to infrastructure damage in Tonga but want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to connect with kâinga when they can.

Te Reo is a normal part of our country and we will continue to encourage and give tools to those who wish to expand their knowledge and cultural understanding.

1/2 Hey there, I understand you're frustrated due to a bad experience with Vodafone but as we've been tagged and as it's been raised in this thread. We here at Spark also celebrate Māori Language Week and have a dedicated app Kupu to help people learn Te Reo.

We know there has been a lot of debate over the weekend, and we would like to provide more clarity on where we stand.
We know there has been a lot of debate over the weekend, and we would like to provide more clarity on where we stand.

At Spark we believe the internet should be an inclusive space for all people, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other factor.

We have a very long history of supporting women, particularly through improved gender representation, progression, and by reducing the gender pay gap. We are also strong supporters of the LGBTQ+ community.

We recognise there are wide ranging views on how to create safe spaces in both the online and offline world and we will continue to live up to our own values, and our belief in diversity and inclusion, while respecting each person’s right to their own view.

We know our original posts did not reflect this well, and that’s something we will learn from.

We hope that this provides more context and some assurance that we support inclusivity and safe environments for all people.

Mōrena koutou katoa! We stand by our response to @shaneellal on Threads. We will continue to support the rights of trans and non-binary people and we’re not interested in discussing this further. Thanks ^PM

We’ve opened up our WiFi network across the South Island to anyone who needs it - you don't have to be a Spark customer. If you're near a pink phone box, search for "Spark wi-fi zone" - it's free and no password required. Stay safe out there.

We’re excited to launch Kupu, the new app that turns your photos into te reo Māori. Here’s what @Tikidub had to say about Kupu. Download it for free at kupu.co.nz

Our hearts go out to Christchurch during this tragic time. To help our Spark customers stay in touch over the next 24 hours we are providing free mobile calls in and out of Christchurch. We have also opened our WiFi hotspots in Christchurch to customers of all mobile providers.

We're sorry, we got a bit carried away with doggo love, didn't mean to step on anyone's paws. We've taken it down, 0/10 would not repeat ☹️

Anyone within range can simply search for the Spark network (named "Spark wifi zone”) and click to join, with no authentication required. This will be available to everyone – not just Spark customers. Stay safe out there! 💜 3/3

Beyond Binary Code is a piece of code that can be added to any website. Co-created with non-binary communities, it helps organisations understand when & how to ask for gender data. Help rewrite the internet to be gender inclusive: spark.co.nz/beyondbinaryco…

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. These comments are inconsistent with our values & culture at Spark. We have removed advertising from Magic Talk across all channels and will be reviewing our approach with them going forward. ^MM

2/2 we see this as a celebration of culture, a chance for education and acceptance of both those in our community and inside our workplace. This is on top of our 24/7 support teams if you ever run into any trouble :)
