Spot the difference.... delighted to take part in an interview on BBC breakfast this morning with my colleague. We are both Professors and Consultant ENT surgeons.....why don’t we get treated in the same way? #untitling #unconcious bias

3 months ago my daughter and Emma Radacanu were in the same maths class. Since collecting their A level results one has broken all records and is set to win the US open. The other has broken her wrist whilst crowdsurfing at a festival. It’s a proud parenting moment 😭

Just getting home from work at 3am. Left and A&E full of doctors and nurses. Getting up at 6.30 am to get to my morning operating list. It’s my son’s birthday. Where are you @SteveBarclay? How’s your work life balance? #doctorsworkweekends #nhs

Just popped to the bank to pay in a cheque, made out to Prof Claire Hopkins, with a matching bank card and wearing my hospital badge displaying the same. The teller, having looked at my account, asked if my boss knew I had his bank card….🙄

Alerted to another year of pension fines as I work too hard for the nhs. So, I’ve asked to cut my hours and will decline all future requests to cover extra operating lists. No longer willing to pay to work myself into an early grave. #nhscrisis

My all day NHS operating has been left with 3 out of 5 slots unused - 2 patients decided on Wednesday that the date did not suit (having previously confirmed) and 1 this morning did not want to wait to be second on the list, so left. They have waited nearly a year for surgery.

Meanwhile, back at the beeb… 3 leaders in the NHS; 2 frontline clinicians and one no longer practicing clinical medicine. Guess which one gets Dr in their title? 🤔 Of course it’s just another honest mistake… Sort it out @BBCNews @ShamimUmarji @StGeorgesTrust deserve better

Just ordered some cadaveric rib for an upcoming nasal reconstruction. Company rang back to find out which surgeon I worked for as a secretary as I appeared to have put my own name instead. Even using my title in the email wasn’t enough of a clue..... #unconcious bias🙄🤷🏼‍♀️

I know In the grand scheme of things it’s no big deal, no one died and a whole load of men will tell me to ‘calm down dear’ but something similar happens every single day.

My grief for the NHS has reached the sadness stage - I came home yesterday and cried, not just with tiredness, but with the growing realisation that it is irrevocably broken. For all those that say ‘you know what you signed up for’ - it was never this

No more Mr Nice Guy, meet Professor Angry Bird. While it may be the paper cut of unconscious gender bias, untitling still stings just the same. So I will be sending more email replies like this from now on.

To all young women leaping up and down with 4 A* about to start medicine - congratulations. We see you. We have your back. You have a right to expect your career to be free of sexual harassment and assault. There may be some tough times ahead but these should not add to that.

Thanks for the apology. Same thing happened when you introduced me during a live interview last year too, when you spoke with ‘Claire and Professor Semple’.... when coming on to give an expert opinion, titles matter. Everywhere else, I’d be delighted if called me Claire

After meeting with a financial advisor today, the pension situation is worse than expected. I am completing my form to withdraw from the NHS pension scheme and will retire at 55 to avoid paying to go to work, unless radical changes occur. Fix this or the NHS will fail @Liztruss
