The Capcom Vs. games straight up wouldn't exist as we know them today without Akuma, so here's an hour long analysis of the character that built Marvel Vs. Capcom. ๐(Link in Replies!)๐
- Made Yakuza a respectable RPG on top of still having fun brawlers
- Actually made Super Monkey Ball good again
- Brought back Virtua Fighter
- Literally one dude at this studio's been porting (and preserving) Sega's old arcade stuff to Yakuza just for fun
Incredible studio.
In a game already filled with a bunch of endearingly dumb tongue-in-cheek jokes, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night having an item that's functionally useless but stretches Alucard's sprite by three pixels is one of the funniest things to ever happen in a Konami game
Holy shit, the JP site has high def transparent PNGs of every MvC2 character portrait. Can't even begin to express how thankful I am for all the art assets they've provided, MvC2 art in particular's been kinda horrifically preserved up until now
Would you guys believe me if I told you that one of the best RPGs of the 2000s was a post-apocalyptic turn based freeware Charles Barkley game that treats Space Jam as canon (no, really) and has legitimately hilarious writing?
Honestly recommend it if you like 16-bit RPGs.
While we're appreciating Marvel Vs. Capcom art, I want to shout out a non-Capcom artist: Hirofumi Ichikawa. He's more known for his Transformers stuff but worked on the X-Men manga and did some Gamest promo art for MSH, not the least of which is this baller ass Blackheart art
Alright. So MvC1's soundtrack release from over 20 years ago came with a link to a password protected secret website. Thankfully, the credentials to access the site, as well as the website itself was archived, and BOY is there some interesting stuff in it. ๐งต(1/?)
Y'all want to see Mickey Mouse doing Street Fighter moves in an official Capcom game?
Dude that directed this game also directed Breath of Fire 3 & 5, wrote BoF4, Dragon's Dogma I & II, and was one of the lead planners for World Tour in SF6, apparently. Interesting trajectory.
When people think of broken characters, Ivan Ooze in the Power Rangers fighter or Brawl Meta Knight might come to mind for some
I present to you Sheen, the character so absurdly busted that the devs released a patch that straight up deleted him from the game
