I sat down with ABC Radio National to remind this country to get used to Truth-Telling because I'm not going anywhere.

I didn't 'go missing'. As I explained to the Australian, I was off work after being seriously assaulted at a public event. I needed spinal surgery and now have a metal plate in my neck. They know this – yet this is how they frame their hit piece. Gutter journalism.
Lidia Thorpe was absent for more than a third of parliamentary sitting days and voted in just 45 per cent of divisions this year, new data has revealed. Details: bit.ly/3UmmHjM

If it wasn’t official before, it most certainly is now. I’m so proud to be the first Aboriginal Victorian Senator and working alongside my Greens colleagues. Thank you so much for your well wishes.

Day two of the 47th Parliament and racism has reared its ugly head. Pauline Hanson disrespectfully stormed out of the acknowledgement of Country in the Senate, refusing to acknowledge “those people.” You want to make parliament safe? Get rid of racism.

I won't be supporting Labor’s social media ban. Young people use social media to participate in politics and activism. Many young people are critical of Labor online, so maybe that's what this is about, but I think it's good that young people are engaged. 1/4

This week yet another Aboriginal person died in custody because this country refuses to remove hanging points from prisons – a recommendation from the Royal Commission 33 years ago. These are the real problems in this country that I'm talking about. I won't be silent. 1/2

The news that Israel has restarted deadly airstrikes in Gaza is gut wrenching. The Australian government must take a strong stance against Netanyahu. Labor must not remain complicit, they must stand up. We need to see real sanctions and consequences, not more empty words.

People calling me a crazy, angry Blak woman. I am all of these things, and proud of it. Yesterdays protest wasn’t about right and left, it was about right and wrong. This country’s immigration detention system is designed to be dehumanising. We should be angry about that.
