    I asked @GavinNewsom today to consider immediate resumption of outdoor and low-contact indoor high school sports. I support the governor and he has supported teachers by prioritizing them for the COVID vaccine. With that underway we can now take this step: bit.ly/3arheSA

    The solution forged by #CALeg leaders to @UCBerkeley’s enrollment dilemma may finally set the stage to refocus CEQA on its original aims. The deal allows the campus to move ahead and keeps the need to stop CEQA misuse in the spotlight. We must make CEQA work as intended.

    My new bill will turn parking lots into clean energy power plants. Countries like France are requiring large parking lots to have solar canopies. It’s time for the U.S to realize the great public benefit & follow suit.

    The CPUC needs to reconsider. Adding a large monthly $$$ charge only for solar customers, while slashing the value of excess solar energy they provide to the grid, undermines the spread of distributed solar when the Climate Crisis demands MORE clean energy of all kinds, not less.

    This morning, before attending a speaking engagement, I tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, I am feeling fine and am grateful to be vaccinated and to have received my booster shot. I will be quarantining at home and look forward to returning to work as soon as possible.

    Today my office submitted 600+ letters supporting my bill #SB474, the BASIC Act, to eliminate markups on items sold in prison canteen stores. 207 letters directly from incarcerated people show that costs of incarceration hurt them & their families. We must end Canteen markups!

    #CALeg missed a chance to ensure police transparency & accountability. Without this fix, many agencies will continue to encrypt vital radio communications, cutting off almost 90 yrs of public & press access to critical public safety info. I’ll continue to fight to restore access.

    Today I had the opportunity to speak at #COP26 about getting California to #netzero. I highlighted California's leadership, proudly noting that since 2000, California reduced its emissions per capita by more than 20% while at the same time growing our economy by more than 60%.
