Under the law, no matter where you live, women have the right to emergency care — including abortion care. In no uncertain terms, HHS will enforce this.
HHS to Providers: If an abortion is necessary to save a pregnant patient’s life or prevent serious jeopardy to the patient’s health, the federal laws protecting emergency care supersede any state law prohibiting abortion.

In just 15 days, people with Medicare will be able to get covered insulin prescriptions capped at just $35 per month per subscription. This is a big deal – and it’s because of @POTUS’ Inflation Reduction Act.

In just 13 days: People with Medicare Part D drug coverage will be able to get the shingles vaccine, and more recommended adult vaccines, at no cost. This is – you guessed it – thanks to @POTUS’ Inflation Reduction Act.

As co-chair of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, I applaud @BTS_twt for using their voices to speak up against Anti-Asian bias and hate crimes.

Dr. Rachel Levine’s confirmation as Assistant Secretary for Health at @HHS_ASH is a historic moment for everyone in this country – especially the LGBTQ+ community. She is a dedicated public servant and a tireless advocate for public health. I am thrilled to welcome her to @HHSGov

Looking forward to working with Attorney General Garland to answer @POTUS’ call to action to review how marijuana is scheduled under federal law.

Third: We classify marijuana at the same level as heroin – and more serious than fentanyl. It makes no sense. I’m asking @SecBecerra and the Attorney General to initiate the process of reviewing how marijuana is scheduled under federal law.

Dr. Fauci, thank you for your decades of public service that have improved the health of millions. Your ability to break down complex science into simple terms has saved so many lives. I thank you; your colleagues thank you; your country thanks you. Good to see you today.

Nearly 940,000 Americans signed up for health coverage during @POTUS’ Special Enrollment Period. That’s a big deal. You have until August 15 to visit HealthCare.gov or CuidadoDeSalud.gov and see what health plans are available to you.

I say this not only as Secretary of HHS, but as the husband of a high-risk OB-GYN who knows in no uncertain terms: the ability to make your own reproductive health care decisions privately with your doctor plays a big role in reducing maternal mortality and morbidity.

Today's SCOTUS ruling is a victory for all Americans, especially people with pre-existing conditions or anyone who was worried they could be forced to choose between their health and making ends meet. Health care should be a right -- not a privilege.

The Texas government’s attacks against transgender youth and those who love and care for them are discriminatory and unconscionable. These actions are clearly dangerous to the health of transgender youth in Texas.

To all providers: if a patient faces serious jeopardy to life or health, and an abortion is necessary to prevent that harm, federal laws preempt any and all state laws prohibiting the abortion. Full stop.
