After 18 years we have decided that Screaming Females is coming to an end. A lot changed around us over those 18 years but at our core we operated pretty much the same throughout. We funded and made the records we wanted to make. We did our own art...

No venue should take a percentage of band merch. Ever. Full stop.

Here’s a scenario I’ve seen play out more times than I can count. Young band/act get some real buzz going around what they are doing. A fancy booking agent steps in and says “now’s your time! Let’s make this happen!” So the band stops booking themselves or leaves...

So how do we build a different model? It’s actually pretty simple. Work with people you trust. Don’t buy into the quick schemes. Have long term goals. Most importantly build long term relationships built on a shared vision. Basically don’t fuck people over for short term gains.

With the amount of plastic in the world being totally out of hand, I think it would be great if more venues installed those water bottle filling stations both for the audience and one backstage for bands. We don’t need to be going through hundreds of bottles every gig.

We printed a lot of our own merch. We managed ourselves. Probably most importantly we loaded up our van with our gear and traveled around the world to play shows wherever you would have us. We tried to build and celebrate community the best we could...

What’s up with not labeling A sides and B sides on your records? If I got your vinyl at a 45 degree angle by an exposed light bulb trying to read the matrix # to figure out which side to start on, ya did something wrong with your layout!

If I told you that there was a punk show at a Sonic Drive In in South Jersey with someone fire breathing in the pit, would you believe me?
